Cross-Country Running (1956)

CROSS COUNTRY 1956

By Mr. J. G. Lee

Two cross-country races were held this season, the first on the 1st December, 1955, and the second on the 26th March, 1956.

The start and finish were on Haste Hill, where the spectator has a fine view of much of the course. The footpaths round the golf courses and woods provide a pleasant route of just over two-and-a-half miles and demand a high standard of physical fitness.

In the first race M. G. Wakeling covered the course in 17 min. 12 sec., a most satisfactory time. C. and H. Snook improved on this time by 7 sec. in the second race run in better conditions, and are to be congratulated on their joint achievement.

House points were awarded in both races but the Cross-Country Cup was presented to the House with the lowest aggregate place score.
