Cross-Country Running (1957-58)

CROSS COUNTRY 1957-58

By Mr. J. G. Lee

For the first time a number of Inter-School fixtures were held. Bishopshalt proved too strong for our Under 15 team but the Under 13 team, after a narrow defeat at Uxbridge, ran well to win on our own course.

A triangular match was held at Northwood in which our guests were Watford and St. Clement Danes. The match was very closely contested, our Under 15 team winning by 2 points and our Under 14 team by 1 point. At Watford in the return match our teams again ran well to win in both age-groups.

This first season was brought to a fitting conclusion when our "A" team came third in the Inter-School Cross-Country organised by the Ruislip-Northwood Athletic Club.

Grove, Geldard. Skinner, Haran and Speller ran well and Kerton and Cartwright were awarded Junior Colours. In the Under 13 group Sparkes, Lulan and Buck were outstanding and promise well for the future.
