ST. NICHOLAS FAIR. Newsletter No. 28, 26th June 1972
Although the potential of St. Nicholas Fair should, one would have thought, appeal to our Association as a source of annual income, our members have rarely offered support in large numbers. On the whole the parents have never considered our help sufficient to warrant the donation of large sums to our funds and although they have been justified in recent years, there have been occasions when our Committee have been disappointed with the donation.
This year only one member has answered our appeal for support and as a result, Mike Stevenson has advised the parents that we cannot undertake to run any particular stalls nor offer help in house to house collections. In the past, most of the work has fallen on the Committee and they cannot be expected to cover up the general apathy any longer.
There is of course no reason why Old Boys should not still help at the Fair on the 8th July if they so wish and anyone with second thoughts can contact Mike at Northwood 22329.
It follows from the above that we will have received no income towards our Clubhouse Fund during the current year other than interest from loans and deposits, and therefore, we are going to have to wake up somewhat next year to make up for this deficiency.
