Notes about Magazines:

When I took over the old site, I inherited a full set of digital magazines in PDF (image only) format. However the quality was sometimes very poor. I now have hard-copies of most magazines so I am re-scanning them, in both PDF (text) and JPG formats. I have made the JPG files available in the standard "Gallery" format that I use for most photos on the site. These JPG galleries are good quality and quick to display.

August 2025: I have been experimenting with various PDF formatting applications. Our magazine PDFs are looking superb and are far superior to the JPGs. Only 1956 and 1961-62 are available so far.

PDF files are now searchable. If you search our website using the little magnifying glass (see picture), available on every page, the PDF text will now be included in the search. This is fantastic. The search results page has a new section; "Embedded files" - this is where you will see the results of searching the PDF files.

When displaying PDFs, I recommend using the little "pop-out" button. This opens the PDF in a new browser tab and this method of display, like many PDF rendering applications, has its own separate and distinct search facility. It just gets better and better.
