Original Work by A. Chester, 2A
One stormy night while I slept,
In the sky the lightning leapt,
While in the distance thunder clapped,
And on my window raindrops tapped.
On my bed in restless sleep,
Carried by slumber to the ocean deep:
Our craft was tossed from side to side,
But, still the gale would not subside.
The timbers creaked and the wind sighed
"Abandon ship", the captain cried.
The boats slapped the water as the cables were slashed
And to the sides, provisions were lashed.
Above our boat, the waves they leapt,
But to the boat, a firm hold we kept:
At seeing such a stormy sight,
Our fright and terror was at its height.
Seeing a tremendous wave in the haze,
I thought I saw the end of my days:
As the salt-water battered my skin -
At my window, the sun peeped in.

The mighty waters rose as one,
Devouring piece by piece the land,
Their swell increasing, surging on,
Ensnaring evil in their hand
Their army extended far and wide
Engulfing all the wicked earth;
The waters flowed and humans died,
Because the world had scorned its birth.
The floods all-conqu'ring roared again,
And only two of each were spared
And now man wonders if in vain.
Humanity was so impaired.
