(This poem was awarded first prize in the senior section of the Literary Competition.)
Then I heard a great voice cry in the calm,
And the voice turned into a stream of blood,
Which ran where the man held up the charm.
And the stream ran on, and out of the flood
There rose up a Cross and Time was freed,
Where the water and blood ran into wine;
And rocks were torn from the Euphrates' bed;
But the Gentiles were saved by Peter's sign.
And they drank the wine and broke the bread,
They poured the water and laid on hands,
And they followed the paths where He had led,
And the flood spread throughout all the lands
And where the Cross's shadow struck the soul,
The blood and the water cleansed the whole.
