The Castle (1959-60)
The Castle (1959-60)
Original Work by D. JACKSON, IIB.
The castle stands upon a mound
And overlooks the sea.
Its rugged walls have marked this spot
For many a century.
Long years have passed since battles raged
Around these ancient walls;
Where soldiers marched and fought and died,
Only the raven calls.
If only stones could speak to us,
Of tales of victory,
Of siege, of hunger and defeat.
And deeds of bravery.
Alas! they keep a silent watch
Between the sea and sky.
Their hour of glory is but now
A page of history.
