RU064***Steve Martin writes:
"I believe this was taken in 1971 and is the squad of sixth form players plus some 5th formers who went on Tour to Skipton around Easter. I cannot recall very much of the tour (which was not the result of excessive alcohol consumption!). I believe we played 3 matches winning just one. We were all treated to an evening meal at a local Chinese restaurant and another highlight was a visit to Skipton Market where we overawed by the size of the bulls (!?). During one of the matches the opposition decided to test the theory that as southerners we were soft and tried to give us a hard time. After numerous dubious incidents and attempts to unsettle St Nicks, tempers became frayed and a very unseemly brawl took place which as you can imagine incurred the wrath of Pete Gibson which was never a pretty sight. Soon after the tour he invited me into the PE Office. I was convinced a day of reckoning had arrived but in fact he asked me if I would be captain of the First XV for the next season."
