The School Ist XV enjoyed a very successful season, losing only five inter-school games, two of these occurring during and after a hectic Easter tour to Widnes.
Without possessing any brilliant players, the team was sound in all departments. The forwards were particularly mobile, being able to supply the three-quarters with plenty of the ball from secondary possession as well as from the set pieces. Burrells benefited most from this, scoring thirty-two tries.
The finest feature of the team was undoubtedly the back-row play of Byrne, Snowden and Sharpe, the last being the most improved player in the side: Snowden's captaincy and leadership were always an inspiration to a team which always gave of its best.
My own personal thanks go to this team for their high standard of play and conduct throughout the season, and their religious attendance of training sessions.
School Colours were awarded to M. Biles, J. Frankcom, F. Mott, P. Sharpe and M. Taylor as a reward for their high standards of performance throughout the season.

The 2nd XV, under Mr. P. Newton, had its most successful season, a fitting reward for all Mr. Newton's hard work over the years with School rugby. Everyone will wish him well in his new post.
The side remained unbeaten throughout, surrendering its 100 per cent record only in the last match of all.
