For the first time the school ran a senior team, and was lucky to obtain some attractive fixtures at very short notice. It is hoped that this list can be maintained and extended next year.
As was expected with our young team, results were only average at first. We found it easy to beat teams which did not have regular fixtures, but were defeated fairly easily in our turn by strong cross-country schools.
We had to wait until early March for our first victory of merit, when Latymer Upper School were defeated at Northwood by 4 points.
A team was entered for the Middlesex Grammar Schools' Championships for the first time, and a result completely beyond our expectations was achieved, third place being gained from twenty-eight schools.
Individually, Kerton was the school's most consistent runner, without more than occasionally showing the form of which he is obviously capable. McKenzie in particular, and Cartwright, Speller and Darby gave him good support. Dothie, who ran his first-ever school race after Christmas, showed immediate promise, but excelled himself in the "Middlesex" to finish tenth.
