ALTHOUGH only in the second season of senior team competition, the cross-country team scored some fine victories over strong cross-country schools. With the same team as the previous year, the majority still being young for senior competition, the school gained high positions in all of the open races. The best performances came in the Thames Valley Harriers Race and the Middlesex Grammar Schools Championship in which the team came second to Bishopshalt, the only school to beat them regularly throughout the season.
Individually there was no outstanding runner, but Mackenzie, Cartwright, Speller and Kerton were consistently in the scoring team, whilst Dothie often ran very well. Speller was the most improved member of the team, being awarded senior colours along with Dothie, Mackenzie, Cartwright and Kerton.
With only three of the present team leaving, we can again look forward to some good results next season.
