By Mr. P. Cahill
An era of School cross-country ended when the captain for the last three years. Victor Kerton, left in July 1963. He, more than anyone, by his enthusiasm, by his encouragement of others and by his personal example built up for the School the enviable reputation which it now enjoys in the sport. The "Kerton Trophy", donated by him for inter-school competition, was competed for at Haste Hill in December; the Shield will serve as a permanent reminder of his invaluable association with School running.
P. McGain, the new captain, soon showed that he meant to live up to the high standard set, and the team responded very well to his leadership - the results of the open races shown below do not suffer much, if at all, from comparison with those in preceding years.
R. Green, still an Intermediate, showed most improvement and ran for Middlesex in the All-England Championships.
School Colours were awarded to R. Green, M, Owen, D. Roy and J. Wood.
